This is a very easy tutorial, but it is not for BEGINNERS.
I have assumed that you already know the basics of Paint Shop Pro. To complete this tutorial you will need: Paint Shop Pro This tutorial is a little different. We're going to make several different backgrounds, all using only the Simple Filters, and PSP's Geometric Effects. I'm hoping that you will experiment with just about everything. It's almost impossible to make an ugly background, not matter what order you do the steps in, or which Geometric Effect you use. Let's get started... |
| Find a picture with colors you like, and resize it to 200 X 200, or you can use this one. |
| Apply Simple Filters - Diamonds |
| Apply PSP Effects / Geometric Effects / CurlyQs |
| Apply Simple Filters - Pizza Slice Mirror |
| With some images, that's all you need to do. But, let's apply some of the previous steps again, and see what happens. | ||
Simple - Diamonds
Geometric Effects - CurlyQs
Simple - Pizza Slice Mirror
| That was pretty fun and easy. Let's try another variation, using that same starting image. | ||
Simple - Diamonds
Geometric Effects - Spiky Halo
(default settings, radius%=20)
Simple - Pizza Slice Mirror
I think I would apply Simple Diamonds, one more time on that one, but it's all up
to you.
Let's try another variation, using that same starting image. |
Simple - Diamonds
Geometric Effects - Wave
Simple - Pizza Slice Mirror
Geometric Effects - CurlyQs
Simple - Pizza Slice Mirror
Simple - Diamonds
Uh-oh, I'm getting carried away now.
So let's say you like part of the picture, but not all of it. I liked the little part in the middle, but didn't like the green parts around the edges. When that happens, I do Selections - Select All Selections - Modify - Contract 50 Copy / Paste as New Image This will create a 100 X 100 square out of the middle. |

Just a couple more quick suggestions... |
If you want a tile with more color, you can
Apply Simple - Quick Tile - 50% before the first Simple - Diamonds step |
OR ... you can
Apply Simple - Quick Tile - 50% INSTEAD OF the first Simple - Diamonds step |
For a softer looking tile, you can
Apply Eye Candy Swirl (small and twisty, or whatever) before the first CurlyQ step |
OK, that's it. You're on your own now. Go play. Have fun. |
